Macs now account for 2/3's of PCs sold that retail over the magic $1,000 mark. (1st qtr of 08) This is up from 57% in 07, and 18% in 06. Apple is also increasing its market share. 14% of all desktops/laptops sold were Apple, up from 10%, same period last year. Windows-based notebooks have steady, BUT- Apple's laptops are up 60%. Same with desktops: Windows systems down 20%, while Mac desktops are up 45%. Course, ya gotta remember there is ONLY one Mac below a grand and thats the Mini. (Nice too...) Is this trend due to the hyperbole surrounding OSX, or can it be attributed to the circle of products in their lineup? I-Pod, I-Phone..... etc. It seems ol Steve is not concerned with providing a cheap alternative to the PC. Will people step up in these economically troubled times, and eschew 'cheap' for a perceived value of quality? Will you buy a Mac this year?
