Get Macbook?

Hello
Im going to college in Augest. I plan to major in Education. I would use a laptop for the basics. Internet, papers, research, Aim, Msn. Macbooks seem nice but i cant decide what to do. My dad wants to give me his current laptop which i think is tobisha, which is nice but i want a new laptop I also think he just wants a new one. anyways, i dont know what to do. do you think the macbook is a good choice? I read a lot of reviews everywhere or talk to people and it seems anytime i hear a good review,i decide to get one, then i read or hear someone tell me there no good and rethink everything. I have never owned a mac and always hear people say how they switched to macs and love it.. please offer advice and help.
Thanks!

Jack, most of the people here in Yahoo that complain about Macs have no idea what they are talking about. They quote rumors or data from years ago that is invalid. Check with some independent sources like Consumer Reports. They top rate the MacBook Pro over all other laptops. Right now Apple has a 66% market share in the USA of computers that sell for over $1000. Anywhere between 8 and 12 % of computers in use right now are Macs. The main advantages, top rated tech support, best battery life, high reliability, almost all the software you need comes on it, and they have the highest resale value. MacBooks come with built in type "n" wifi and a webcam. There are no released MacOs X viruses. Everyday there are hundreds of questions posted here in Yahoo about computer viruses, they are all on PCs. You get to work on your computer instead of fixing it, downloading virus updates, messing with your bios (whatever that is). A Mac just works.
