How can I upgrade my laptop?

I want to buy some new parts for my laptop. I have a Compaq Presario V2000. It runs a bit slow, and I would like to play some newer games on it. I want to do this fairly cheaply, nothing over $500. I was wondering, should I buy some more RAM, get a new Video Card, or what? I want to play some games on it and they are 3d games. One game I have requires: 512 MB RAM, with 1 GB recommended. I might need a new sound card. It needs a video card of ATI Radeon 9500 128 MB VRAM or NVIDIA 6600 GT with 128 MB of VRAM or better (256MB ATI Radeon X850 or NVIDIA GeForce 6800GT recommended)

I want to get a better video card than that, I would also like to add a few GBs of RAM, and I would like to know what else I can buy to make it run faster and better.
I would also like to know if any of these things will fit in my laptop.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks

Getting more RAM in your computer will increase it's overall speed and performance relatively cheaply compared with getting a new graphics card (especially for a laptop).

I would suggest reading the instructions for installing new parts be fore trying or getting a professional to install it.

For the games you might be able to run high graphic games in safe mode or all low, they should run fine. If you want you can defragment your computers hard drive which can help it to run faster.

The only other thing that you can really upgrade in a laptop is the hard drive. The CPU is not normally upgradable and is considerably expensive.

The other option of course is to buy a new computer (If you just use it for general use and don't carry it any where a desktop is cheaper and easier to upgrade).
