Slow Computer because of Some kind of virus?

Let me start off by saying I've run scans with Ad-Aware, AVG, Avast!, Avira Antivir, Nod32, Spybot Search & Destroy, and SAS, and none of them have found anything.

So anyways -- I notice that when I go into my start menu and click a shortcut, if I don't let it give me the brief popup description the start menu will freeze until the application opens.
I also notice in opera that sometimes when I click a link (eg a topic on gamefaqs) it'll sit there unresponsive and frozen (can still move mouse and minimize opera) until the link opens/loads.

Now is this a virus or likely just my operating system? I've got nothing running in the background, and I've uninstalled all anti-virus software after scans (all scanned seperately to avoid conflicts, all after complete registry removal of the software and a computer cold restart)
Nothing is found by any of them, and yet I still have this issue.
PC is about.. ~2 months old
E6850 (3.00GHz)
2GB of Kingston DDR2 800mhz ram (just listing these as they're the only thigns I know of that could cause my issue)

I'm able to tolerate the issue.. I just want to know what could be causing it.
And yes, I have defragmented.

Hmm.. just uninstalled AVG free, dunno if that's what was causing it as it's the only one I didn't uninstall through the whole process (yeah I know it's crap, don't think I don't know that)
and I can't seem to get it to freeze.

Spoke too soon :P

no stutters in games, no issues in games, everything runs fine except for Opera and windows when I open from start menu.
I've had this issue since pretty much day01, and I do no bad browsing (gamefaqs, overclock, techsupport forum, tomshardware)

I've used processexplorer and processlibrary to check what is running (also used software environment > running tasks in system information) and nothing but vital windows applications and a couple of the stuff that I run is on and it's all coming from proper locations.

SAS is SUPER antispyware, was recommended to me by cotojo I think a while back, incase anyone is wondering.
I have run scans in safe mode :P

Anyway, the freezing is perfectly tolerable as I spend most of my time gaming anyways.
Just trying to figure out what it could be.
Would ending the process be a good way to experiment on whether or not it's causing the issue?

I mean.. I've never had issues like this before, and I've had that on 3 computers.
I did that netstop whatever thing, still got a freeze when I tried to open an application.

I'm really not sure what oculd be causing this.
I mean.. it's been happening since day01, so I really have no clue. It's pretty stressful thinking about it :P
Haven't been able to get the browser to freeze while loading links since disabling that punkbuster, but I noticed that if the browser did freeze I could go to start menu and try to open notepad and it'd like freeze the start menu until the browser loaded and then notepad would open at the exact second.

Not sure as I did get a start menu freeze loading Mercenaries 2.

I've already run AVG, Avast, Avira, Ad-Aware, Spybot, SUPER antispyware, etc etc etc etc in safe mode, and nothing has been caught.
I think AVG has one of the lowest detection rates of all of them software :P
Yes yes I've already been monitoring this.
Highest it went during a freeze was 16% usage.
I also just tested my laptop and it's getting the same issue.
No idea what the hell this could be.
And I'm a moderately experienced PC user (only been working with them for 6 years, but I've built 3 or so)
Most of the suggested stuff (I've asked on a few forums) have already been tried.

Once again, no issues in games, no odd processes running, nothing detected in safe mode virus scan using 9+ different software, no issues with processor, only thing I haven't done is run memtest and I know it's not my memory as my laptop is having the same issue.
Either I've got some kind of worm that is infecting the network causing the issue, or.. I'm just experiencing a normal issue and blowing it out of proportion due to the fact that I've got OCD.
Oh and by the way.. I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but I only get the temporary (2-3 second) freeze SOMETIMES. It's not always, and if it happens during start menu (ONLY from quicksta
