Information about Linux Ubuntu Version?

Right now, I'm using Windows XP but I already downloaded Ubuntu. So, I would like to know something about Ubuntu.

1) Most of my PC hardware like DVD burner is made for Windows XP. I know this because on the box of the hardware got (Designed for Windows XP) sticker. So, Can I use these hardwares if I install Ubuntu ?

2) Can I install software that is supported by Windows on Ubuntu ?
If yes, how ?

3) Do these softwares supported by Ubuntu ?
- WinRAR
- Adobe Flash (I need this to watch Youtube and use Yahoo Messenger)
- Free MP3 Recorder
- Youtube Downloader

1) It's not designed for Windows, it's approved for Windows - totally different. Most PC hardware works under Ubuntu - after all, Ubuntu was designed on PCs.

2) There are two programs you need, both free and both easy to install - Wine and Wine Doors. (There's a package manager - Synaptic - and it will install both of them.)

3) Yes (under Wine), yes, there are a few and there are a few.

4) You don't have enough RAM to run Windows, but you have plenty to run Ubuntu. Otherwise your hardware is fine.
