Ipod touch 2g, Which is better 8gb or 16 gb?

I live in Belgium,Europe, and I have the possibility buying an ipod touch in the USA. (Here we pay around 219€ (=320 USD) for the 8gb version, and 279€ (=408 USD) for the 16gb version.)

So basically, when I buy an ipod touch in the USA it only costs me 156€ (=229 USD) for the 8gb version, or 204€ (=299 USD) for the 16 gb version. So I have on both models a profit of approximately 70€ (=102 USD).

I'm a student so you all need to know buying an ipod touch costs me a lot of my 'savings'. I have about 6gb music, and a lot of movies. Now I have a rubbish 1gb mp3-player, so I really can't imagine that 8gb won't be enough. To me, it sounds like a lot of space. But once you're putting movies onto it, I know 8gb isn't that much.

So basically the question is: Is this 48€ (70USD) worth the 8gb extra space, even when I'm not sure if I need it?
I mean, for that money I almost could buy an old iphone 8gb! Unfortunately the Iphone 3g became way to expensive and almost impossible to buy for a 'foreigner'...

I hope you took the time to read the whole text, because it may be a bit confusing since my English isn't that tremendous. :-)

Here's how I look at it ... go for the extra storage. I will give you my reasons: if right now you have a crappy 1 gb MP3 player once you get your hands on the Touch you may really want to store a lot more on it than you now do on your current MP3 player. To give you an idea as far as size goes. 2 full length movies (video files) take up about 1.5 gb. Therefore if you used your touch for your 1.6 gb of music, you can probably get about 7 full length movie videos on the touch. I calculated this as an approximate amount because when you get your touch even tho it has 8gb you don't get a full 8gb of storage because some of the storage space is already used for program and app date. Now if you go to the 16gb model you can store your 1.6 gb of music and approximately 18 movie files.

I am a huge iPod fan. Love the product and think it's brilliant. When I upgraded to the 60 gb video a few years back I thought I'd never use all the space - because I really didn't plan on watching videos on that tiny screen. Well I did use it and now have a 160 gb classic. I learned how to use alot of the features of the iPod and even connect it to my TV so I can view my stored video files. I also use it in classes I teach etc which prevent the need for me to lug around DVDs and so on.

If you are the type who doesn't mind taking thiongs off to put new things on the Ipod you could go for the smaller version - however, I move things around all the time and really like having the storage space to arrange things the way I like them.

Good luck on your purchase ... really either way you go you can't lose!! Both great products!! Hope this helped!
