In ASP.net validation controls are used to restrict the user to enter wrong data while filling some important information.Validation controls are of 6 types as follow-:

validation controls are used for checking the user data either write or wrong ON CLIENT SIDE only. by using these controls we can reduce the burden on the server.

Validation Controls are used to restrict invalid entry in web page. In other languages user have to write event handling methods to restrict invalid entry , but ASP.Net provides a separate category of controls called Validation Controls. These are of 6types
RangeFieldValidator, RequiredFieldValidator, RegularExpressionValidator, CompareValidator, CustomValidator and ValidationSummary
