Kodak's latest Photo Printer, ESP 9 is a multi-function printer that can copy, scan and fax along with basic and photo printing. Although the printer was basically targeted at home users, its various sets of features make it apt even for office environments as well.
ESP 9 is built on the Kodak KODACOLOR technology and it uses two ink systems that involve six inks; this solution is known to be expensive over the individual cartridges. Print speed is amazing at 32ppm for monochrome and 30ppm for color in draft mode. This number could very well be halved in the normal mode though. Photo printing speed is currently unmatched at 28 seconds per 6" x 4" photograph.
USB connectivity for standalone system and USB drives for Connectivity Options. Networking options are also multiple with wired networking through Ethernet and wireless with 802.11b/g Wi-Fi. The printer can work as a standalone through Pict Bridge port and memory card readers.
Other features include automatic duplex printing, Automatic document feeder and a 10" touch control panel for viewing pictures and navigating through the menu. A second paper tray dedicated for photo paper is available as well. Kodak claims that the net saving on this printer is over 50% compared to its competitors. The price tag on the printer is moderate at £150.
